NBC Commends OurTV’s Commitment to Nigerian Broadcasting

We recently visited the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) at their headquarters in Abuja. This significant meeting marked a key milestone for OurTV as we formally presented our set-up box to the Commission, officially commencing our operations.
During the visit, Acting Director-General Prof. Armstrong Idachaba commended OurTV for our dedication to promoting local content within Nigeria.
“We commend you for your continued commitment to the broadcast industry,” Prof. Idachaba stated. “We are pleased that your set-up boxes are largely produced locally, creating jobs for Nigerian youth. However, it is crucial to remember that broadcasting in Nigeria carries significant responsibility. Your content must uphold the image of Nigeria and its culture, and must always strive to bring Nigerians together.”
He further emphasized, “As a Direct-to-Home (DTH) service provider, you have a responsibility to address the inequalities prevalent in the global information superhighway. We hope you will become a positive representative of Nigeria on the international stage. In return, the NBC will provide all necessary support.”
Earlier, Chief Onochie Amasiani, Managing Director and CEO of Trefoil Networks, the parent company of OurTV, presented the company’s set-up box to the NBC. He highlighted the unique aspects of OurTV, emphasizing its 100% Nigerian integration, including transmission on the Nigerian satellite NigComSat-1R, utilization of locally manufactured set-up boxes, and management by a Nigerian company.
“We are proud to be pioneering the use of NigComSat, demonstrating our unwavering belief in Nigeria’s potential,” Amasiani stated. “OurTV is a testament to the power of local content. We are committed to partnering with the NBC to fulfill our corporate social responsibilities and uphold the highest standards of broadcasting.”
This meeting with the NBC underscores the importance of collaboration and a shared commitment to fostering a vibrant and responsible broadcasting sector in Nigeria. We are excited about the future of OurTV and look forward to continuing to work closely with the NBC to achieve our shared goals.
